PSP Consulting to conduct short course for medical journal editors in November -

PSP Consulting has announced that 'Editing medical journals', a short course for medical journal editors will be conducted in Oxford from November 7-9, 2012. The course, now in its 16th year, continues to provide medical journal editors with advice and guidance on working with publishers, authors, reviewers and the public, and how to develop a journal that readers want to read and cite.

The course has evolved over the years and now includes discussion of different publishing models for online (and print) journals, discussion of ethics and public responsibilities, and what influence journal editors can have on their area of research. Based on a highly interactive discussion-and-debate model, participants share experiences and opinions and leave with a plan of how they can develop their own journals and ensure their on-going success.

With the recent changes in grant funding policies and publishing models it is more important than ever that editors are able to develop suitable policies for their journals if they are to survive. This two-day course will look at the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to run a successful publication.

More information about the course is available on the PSP Consulting website at http://www.pspconsulting.org/medical-short.shtml.
