A forum has been announced for December 3, 2025, at King’s College, Cambridge University, that has been organized to explore the Publish, Review, Curate (PRC) model in scholarly publishing.
The PRC model is described as encompassing scholarly publishing initiatives that build on the trend of preprint sharing. It often involves communities reviewing open preprints and providing evaluation or endorsement based on authors’ requests. The model is highly flexible and can support multiple workflows and scholarly communities. It may replicate the function of a conventional journal by “publishing” reviewed preprints, or it may be applied in alternative ways.
The forum will present a variety of PRC initiatives from around the world, illustrating the model’s adaptability and highlighting its potential advantages, such as enhanced rigor, efficiency, and transparency.
The event will be free to attend but limited to 65 participants, with registration operating on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will close at the end of November 2025.
COAR and the University of Cambridge Libraries and Archives have jointly organized the event, with support from Arcadia, ASAPbio, and participating PRC initiatives.
