The 8th annual Publishers' Forum will be held in Berlin from May 2-3, 2011 in the axica at the Brandenburg Gate, under the title 'From Editorial to Market'. This year's event will once again be held under the auspices of the governing mayor of Berlin, Klaus. The Frankfurt Book Fair is teaming up with the Publishers' Forum to offer events focused on new business models and rights.
With around 300 participants, ranging from publishers to service providers, the conference has reportedly developed into a prominent industry event that integrates all aspects of the media industry. The Publishers' Forum seeks to offer a high quality trade programme with hands-on workshops and seminars conveying both concepts and experiences. Participants include representatives from publishers, newspapers, libraries, the film and music industries, Internet agencies, economics, the sciences and strategic consulting. By teaming up with the Frankfurt Book Fair, Publishers' Forum expects to find a broader audience for issues like process optimisation and new business models.
Digitisation is seen to present great challenges for the publishing and media industries. Catchphrases like 'explosion of formats', 'production in minutes rather than months' and 'granularity of content, products and rights' describe the pressures faced by these companies. Established models have to be rethought. Process analysis and workflow optimisation are key to meeting a variety of customer needs while avoiding exploding costs. This is where the Publishers' Forum expects to come in to play. The goal of the conference is to offer the market faster, solid solutions.
