STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group, Germany, has announced that residents and medical professionals will now be able to easily locate groups of cases across all radiology subspecialties with the new Radcases book series and searchable database. The innovative website and its companion books, developed by Thieme, bring together key cases in radiology under one umbrella.
Cardiac Imaging, by Dr. Carlos Santiago Restrepo and Dr. Dianna M.E. Bardo; Interventional Radiology, by Dr. Hector Ferral and Dr. Jonathan Lorenz; and Musculoskeletal Radiology, by Dr. Glenn M. Garcia, are the first three titles in this twelve book series. Each book in the series comes with a scratch-off code that allows readers twelve months of access to a searchable online database of all 100 cases from the book plus an additional 150 cases in that book’s specialty.
Each case begins with a clinical presentation, which is followed by imaging findings, differential diagnoses, essential facts, other imaging findings as well as pearls and pitfalls. The easy-to-navigate website has a similar structure. The key cases presented in the books and on the website simulate everything a radiologist faces on rounds, rotations and during exams. All the information is clearly presented using high-quality radiographs and annotations.
Unique website features include a flexible search function that lets anyone locate specific cases by checking off, for example, modality and subspecialty. The user can also filter results so only critical cases - those requiring quick recognition of the problem - are returned. Other highlights include colour images, diagnostic videos and the ability to bookmark information.
