ProQuest, part of Cambridge Information Group, US, has announced that two resources supporting evidence-based nursing study and practice from the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) are now available through ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source. The services are Rapid Assessment Protocol internet database (RAPid) and System for the Unified Management, Assessment and Review of Information (SUMARI).
These recent additions supplement nursing study and practice, support evidence-based nursing and provide a beneficial training tool for nurses and nursing students. The RAPid training tool enables users to systematically evaluate research articles and write structured research findings to publish on the JBI interface. It teaches students to critically appraise evidence using established data collection tools and offers the possibility of publishing appraisals in the form of refereed reports. SUMARI is developing a software package designed to assist health and other researchers and practitioners to conduct systematic reviews with evidence of feasibility, appropriateness, meaningfulness and effectiveness and to conduct economic evaluations of activities and interventions.
In response to nursing library needs, there have been significant developments in the ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source. In addition to providing Systematic Reviews, Best Practice Information Sheets and Evidence Summaries from JBI, users can also access over 11,300 full text nursing dissertations, Study Paths written by nursing educators and cultural competency reports from CultureVision. Additional unique resources are planned for 2009.
