In a strategic collaboration, the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) has entered into a partnership with Elsevier to publish its esteemed peer-reviewed journals, Clinical Medicine (ClinMed) and Future Healthcare Journal (FHJ). This alliance signifies a pivotal move for the RCP journals, providing them with enhanced security, growth opportunities, and leveraging Elsevier's marketing expertise to navigate an evolving and increasingly specialized publication landscape.
Under this partnership, the RCP will retain its editorial control and independence, ensuring the continued integrity of Clinical Medicine and Future Healthcare Journal. Both journals will undergo a transformation as they transition to an open-access model, aligning with the global shift toward open research initiatives.
A unique aspect of this collaboration is the commitment to offering RCP members exclusive benefits. Members will enjoy the privilege of publishing in ClinMed and FHJ without incurring any processing charges—a rare opportunity in the open-access journal landscape, where author fees are common. Non-members submitting papers to ClinMed will gradually experience the introduction of an Article Processing Charge (APC) over the coming years, reaching 100% by 2026. However, FHJ will remain both free to publish and free to read for all, emphasizing accessibility and inclusivity.
The new home of the RCP journals from 2024 will be: Clinical Medicine and Future Healthcare Journal.
