Construction information solutions provider Reed Construction Data (RCD), US, has announced a partnership with RCMS Group, which is engaged in providing building information modelling (BIM) services to the building design and construction market.
The agreement is primarily intended to promote the creation and distribution of intelligent building content to the AEC community, including building product manufacturers, architects, general contactors and sub-contractors. For this partnership, both companies are focused on creating content and building models for the Autodesk platform - specifically Revit, which allows an architect to use the content in both the conceptual stage and the design process.
RCD, part of Reed Business Information, brings to the partnership what are claimed to be North America's largest B2B information resources. These include more than 80 publications, 55 web sites and a range of B2B services. RCMS Group, with its offices in Atlanta and India, brings innovative and value-added BIM services that include creation of BIM content for building product manufacturers; conversion of completed 2D construction drawings to 3D BIM models; development of Architectural BIM models working with architects, structural and MEP consultants; development of "Builders" BIM model for general contractors; creation of quantity take-offs from BIM models for general contractors; and detection of collisions and clashes within BIM models for general contractors.
