RefWorks-COS announces enhancements to web-based current awareness tool, RefAware -

RefWorks-COS, the research tools arm of ProQuest, LLC, US, has announced the release of significant upgrades to RefAware, its innovative web-based current awareness tool. RefAware provides researchers and other members of the academic community with immediate access to new research and publications in their field. The tool scours over 9,000 sources providing a comprehensive, up to the minute picture of global research.

As the amount of content continues to grow, it had become necessary for RefAware to provide researchers with effective and innovative tools to locate the most up to date research and publications. The latest enhancements make it even easier for researchers to be notified and review their latest research results based on their search profiles. RSS feeds are automatically created for every search profile and users can receive notifications of new research information via their RSS feed readers. RefAware email alerts will now also include the newly retrieved information. Users can specify their preferences, the display and the frequency of their email alerts. RefAware results are now retrieved using asynchronous technology, allowing users to immediately work with their latest references while additional results continue to be retrieved.

Launched in May 2008, RefAware has added over 2,000 new sources, further expanding coverage in Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Natural and Physical Sciences (including Technology), as well as comprehensive coverage of Life Sciences, Biology and Medicine. RefAware employs proprietary technology to continually monitor thousands of peer-reviewed journals and non-refereed sources in a wide variety of disciplines. This enables users to easily keep up with publications in more than just their most familiar journals.
