Registration has officially opened for Quantum 2020, a virtual conference hosted by IOP Publishing and the Institute of Physics (IOP). The conference is being organised in partnership with the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and the Chinese Physical Society (CPS), a long-standing partner of IOP Publishing.

The conference takes place from October 19 to 22, 2020, and will feature leading researchers in quantum science. Among the prominent researchers confirmed as plenary speakers are: Sergio Boixo, Google, USA; Steve Girvin, Yale University, USA; Dietrich Leibfried, NIST, USA; Miles Padgett, University of Glasgow, UK; Cheng-Zhi Peng, University of Science and Technology China, China; Michelle Simmons, University of New South Wales, Australia; Jelena Vuckovic, Stanford University, USA; and Jun Ye, University of Colorado, USA. An industry panel session, featuring speakers from companies including IBM, Microsoft, Xanadu, ID Quantique, and ORCA Computing will discuss some of the latest quantum technology developments in the commercial sector.
A second panel session will look at quantum technology programmes around the world. Closely connected with a recent focus collection published in Quantum Science and Technology, it will bring together representatives from several major national and regional quantum technology programmes to discuss the future direction of the field.
