Registration is open for participation in the O'Reilly Tools of Change (TOC) for Publishing Conference, to be hosted by publisher O'Reilly Media, US, on February 14-16, 2011. TOC seeks to connect the people, companies and organisations building the future of publishing, and is projected to help participants understand the profound changes affecting the industry.
The event will seek to integrate the visionary with the proven and practical, bringing together the people who are shaping publishing's future. A day-by-day schedule is available online at http://toccon.com/toc2011/public/schedule.
TOC claims to be the premiere event for the publishing industry. The aim is to bring together a network of stakeholders from the global publishing and technology ecosystems, offering a broader perspective than niche events and exposure to the best of the best. The speakers will present topics that reportedly push the boundaries of how publishing is defined. Featured speakers include author and blogger Kathy Sierra, Steve Rosenbaum of Magnify.net, and author Margaret Atwood.
With over 1,200 publishing professionals together under one roof, the networking opportunities at TOC are seen to be plentiful. Several fun events have been lined up to get one mingling and connecting with one another. Roundtable sessions will provide face to face exposure to those interested in the same projects and concepts. These sessions can be organised for individual projects or broader topics (best practices, digital content, standards, etc.).
TOC's exhibit hall is projected to play host to a broad variety of companies and organisations working in publishing. For the first time this year, TOC will host the Publishing Startup Showcase, where 20 publishing startup companies will showcase their products in one room.
