ResearchGate, the professional network for researchers, has announced an expanded partnership with Trans Tech Publications, known for its focus on materials science and engineering through the Scientific.Net platform. This collaboration now includes all 18 journals in Trans Tech’s portfolio and incorporates ResearchGate’s Open Access Agreement Upgrade, aimed at enhancing the visibility and accessibility of open access funding opportunities for authors.
The initial phase of this partnership, launched in 2024 with seven journals, led to notable increases in author engagement and a higher volume of quality submissions. With the inclusion of all Trans Tech journals—encompassing both fully open access and hybrid models—each title now benefits from Journal Home’s integrated community features. These features include dedicated journal profiles, journal branding on article pages, and seamless integration into member feeds, profiles, and search results, all designed to enhance researcher engagement with content. Through its reach of over 25 million researcher members worldwide, ResearchGate enables Trans Tech to foster stronger relationships with potential authors and to encourage submissions throughout the research lifecycle.
The partnership’s expansion also incorporates the Open Access Agreement Upgrade, which broadens the discoverability of institutional open access funding opportunities. This addition provides Trans Tech with targeted insights into researchers’ eligibility for funding based on their publishing histories and areas of research. Moreover, the agreement facilitates direct communication with researchers through personalised, timely messages about open access opportunities relevant to their individual journals. ResearchGate’s advanced analytics offer detailed reporting on engagement at every stage of the publishing process, from readership to authorship, enabling Trans Tech to evaluate and optimise its strategies effectively.
The collaboration between ResearchGate and Trans Tech Publications demonstrates the mutual value of enhancing journal discoverability and fostering meaningful connections between researchers and publishers. By integrating these advanced features, the partnership aims to further support the open access movement while strengthening the reach and influence of Trans Tech’s journals in the scientific community.
