Robert Parker appointed interim CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry -

The Royal Society of Chemistry has announced that Dr Robert Parker, Managing Director, Publishing, has been appointed by the Trustees as interim Chief Executive from March 1, until such time as a permanent successor is appointed. The move follows the resignation of Richard Pike as Chief Executive of the RSC earlier this month.

Dr Parker brings more than 25 years experience at the RSC to the role, having joined the company in 1985 as assistant editor. The RSC's journal portfolio rose to 30 as published content almost trebled during Dr Parker's tenure first as editorial director, before becoming managing director, publishing, in 2007. In his new role, Dr Parker will work with colleagues to develop the RSC's external relationships with organisations in the UK and internationally.

The RSC is one of the largest organisations in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. Supported by a worldwide network of members and an international publishing business, the Society's activities span education, conferences, science policy and the promotion of chemistry to the public.
