Routledge, a Taylor and Francis Group, has announced that the European Journal for Sport and Society has joined their list of international peer-reviewed sports journals.
First published in 2004, European Journal for Sport Society is the journal of the European Association for Sociology of Sport, an organisation that was set up with two primary aims: to represent European experts in the areas of sport and social sciences, and to explore the concept of sport as a vehicle for cultural dialogue during European integration. The journal provides a place for debate in both of these areas, as well as encouraging broader discussion amongst the fields of sport, physical education, recreation, the social body and movement cultures. The Editorial Board also welcomes historical, socio-psychological, political and economic perspectives.
European Journal for Sport Society publishes quarterly, with issues containing articles, reports and conference reports. A recent issue of the journal delves into the question of how different understandings of the term 'sport' can influence the ways in which the benefits of competitive exercise are communicated in different cultures. An article concerned with the effect of athlete's physical attractiveness on TV ratings is also included.
All of European Journal for Sport and Society's back issues are now available to read on the journal's new website.
