Royal Society of Chemistry's China senior expert advisory committee convenes for third meeting -

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) recently hosted the third official meeting of its China Senior Expert Advisory Committee, bringing together distinguished Fellows from academia, research, and industry to deepen collaboration between the UK and China in the field of chemical sciences.

Held just ahead of the sixth Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) Forum on Global Challenges and Chemistry Solutions, the meeting featured participation from two senior RSC leaders, Emma Wilson and Elizabeth Woods. The gathering provided a platform for in-depth discussions on advancing the chemical sciences and fostering stronger connections among scientists in both countries.

The China Senior Expert Advisory Committee was established in 2022 as part of the RSC’s commitment to enhancing engagement with its members and the wider chemistry community in China. The initiative also aims to promote bilateral communication between the scientific communities of the UK and China.

The committee is chaired by Professor Zhong-Qun Tian, a prominent academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Professor of Electrochemistry at Xiamen University. Prof. Tian, who won the RSC Faraday Medal in 2012, leads a group of senior experts from universities, research institutions, and industry.

This latest meeting builds on the momentum of previous gatherings, including the second official session held in Ningbo last October, chaired by RSC CEO Dr. Helen Pain. These meetings have become a vital part of the RSC’s strategy to connect global chemistry professionals, explore collaborative opportunities, and address shared challenges.

As the RSC continues to foster international partnerships, the insights from this advisory committee will play a crucial role in shaping the future of chemical sciences and ensuring impactful, cross-border scientific exchange.
