Royal Society Publishing, the publishing division of the UK’s national science academy, has extended its partnership with ResearchGate to include the newly launched Open Access Agreement Upgrade (OAAU) across its entire journal portfolio.
Building on the success of its Journal Home partnership launched in May 2024, the Royal Society has now integrated the OAAU feature to enhance visibility, accessibility, and engagement for all ten journals in its collection. This expansion follows increased global readership and brand visibility achieved through Journal Home, allowing the Royal Society to connect with broader audiences and further promote open access (OA) publishing.
With the OAAU, the Royal Society gains:
• Targeted Outreach for Open Access Support: The ability to inform researchers eligible for funding support through institutional and consortia agreements, simplifying the OA publishing process.
• Personalized Messaging: Contextual and relevant communication tailored to each journal, providing researchers with clear and actionable publishing information.
• Advanced Analytics and Reporting: Tools to track the effectiveness of OA agreement messaging throughout the publishing journey—from readership to authorship—offering valuable insights into engagement and impact.
The Royal Society, which publishes the world’s longest-running scientific journal, continues to prioritize open access publishing to advance global knowledge-sharing and promote scientific collaboration. By leveraging ResearchGate’s 25 million+ researcher network and the OAAU’s advanced tools, this initiative aims to streamline access to research while supporting researchers in securing funding for OA publication.
