RUR Rankings Agency releases 2018 World University Ranking, powered by Web of Science Data -

Round University Ranking (RUR) Rankings Agency has published its annual World University Rankings, which evaluates the performance of 761 universities around the world. The ranking methodology is based on three key principles: inclusiveness, balance, and stability. Performance is measured against 20 indicators related to teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability.

RUR partnered with Clarivate Analytics to collect statistical data from its Global Institutional Profiling Project, bibliometric data exclusively from the Web of Science, and reputation data from its Academic Reputation Survey. This survey is conducted annually with 10,000 respondents from across the globe.

Despite the fact that four fewer USA universities made the list this year than in 2017 and six less than in 2016, USA universities continue to dominate the leader board.

Russia took second place in the world in terms of overall representation in the rankings with 70 institutions, up from third place in 2017 with 67 universities. The UK has fallen to third place with 67 participating universities.

Clarivate Analytics data are used by influential ranking organisations such as the Academic Ranking of the World Universities (also known as Shanghai Rankings), CWTS Leiden Ranking, U.S. News Global University Rankings, U-Multirank European Ranking, Reuters News Rankings, University Ranking by Academic Performance - URAP (Turkey), I-UGR Rankings (Spain), National Taiwan University Rankings, among many others.
