SAE International launches new journal on automotive alternative powertrains -

Engineers and technical experts association SAE International has announced the launch of a new scholarly journal on automotive alternative powertrains. The SAE International Journal of Alternative Powertrains seeks to provide a forum for scholarly publication of original research and review papers that address challenges and present opportunities in alternative and electric powertrains and propulsion technology.

The editorial scope of the journal includes all technical aspects of alternative propulsion technologies including but not limited to electric drives and electromobility systems, hybrid technology, battery and super-capacitor technology, power electronics, hydraulic drives, energy storage systems for automotive applications, fuel cell technology, and charging and Smart Grid infrastructures. Zoran Filipi, who is the current Timken Endowed Chair in Vehicle Design and Development at Clemson University, will serve as the Editor-in-chief of the journal.

In addition, the journal facilitates discussion among researchers, engineers, academic faculty and students, and industry practitioners working with systems as well as components, and the technological aspects and functions of powertrains and propulsion systems alternative to the traditional combination of internal combustion engine and mechanical transmission.

Two issues of the journal will be published in 2012 (July and December). The first issue will feature technical papers from the SAE 2012 World Congress. The second issue will feature technical papers from other events sponsored by SAE International and other organisations.
