SAE to hold webinar for automobile engineers on hybrids and EVs -

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International, US, has announced that its magazines Automotive Engineering International and Off-Highway Engineering will host 'Re-engineering the Engineer', a telephone/webcast. The event is projected to enable SAE International members to learn about new professional and educational opportunities related to hybrids and electric vehicles (EVs) in a 'live' online discussion with industry and university experts. It is scheduled for August 19 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Topics of discussion will include industry trends driving the need for new engineer competencies, knowledge and training; how battery technology brings chemical engineering into greater importance; the demands placed on OEMs and suppliers for engineers who understand not only vehicle electrification technologies, but the boarder issues of energy and distribution; and a look at the new wave of industry-academia partnerships.

The webcast is open to SAE International members, SAE section and student chapter-sponsored sites and displaced automotive industry professionals for a prescribed fee.
