Academic publisher SAGE Publishing and Jisc have announced the inclusion of Hybrid Gold OA articles in the Jisc Publications Router project, vastly increasing the transparency and discoverability of the UK’s open research.
The announcement follows the signing of a three-year ‘Read and Publish’ agreement between SAGE and Jisc last year. The deal secures authors at participating institutions unlimited free OA publishing rights in over 900 hybrid SAGE journals and a 20% discount on Article Processing Costs in more than 150 pure Gold OA journals. As a result of this agreement, 87% of all Jisc member research was published open access by SAGE in 2020.
Jisc is the UK’s higher, further education and skills sectors’ not-for-profit organization for digital services and solutions.
SAGE was an early participant in the Jisc Publications Router project, supporting its library customers by automatically populating their repositories with some of the world’s leading Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science, Technical and Medical research. SAGE was also a founding board member of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association; one of two publishing partners in the European Commission-funded FP7 Framework project, the Study of Open Access Publishing; and in 2011 launched SAGE Open, the first broad-spectrum open access journal aimed specifically at the Social and Behavioral Sciences.
