Academic publisher SAGE and the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE)have announced the launch of a new journal, Pedagogy in Health Promotion: The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (PHP). PHP will publish its first issue in spring 2015.
Published quarterly, PHP will address how teaching and learning contribute to the development of health promotion professionals working in a variety of roles with a range of populations. The journal’s content will be relevant to faculty in professional preparation and to instructors or trainers who provide continuing professional education in public health, health promotion, and disease prevention.
Dr. Stephen Gambescia, Professor, Drexel University, will serve as Editor-in-Chief in collaboration with a multidisciplinary, international editorial board of 25 leading scholars.
PHP will publish original research, commentaries, coaching articles and descriptive best practices from the public health and healthcare fields, from the academy down to the K-12 classroom levels. Descriptive studies will illustrate how innovation in teaching and learning is enabling society to meet the needs for a knowledgeable, skilled, and ethical workforce in public health, school health, and healthcare. The journal also will feature manuscripts that address how academic or program administration, finance, policies, culture or climate affects the teaching and learning environment.
PHP is one of three peer-reviewed journals published by SAGE and SOPHE. Others include Health Education & Behavior and Health Promotion Practice.
