SAGE Publishing and American String Teachers Association partner to publish two journals -

Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has partnered with the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) to publish the music journals American String Teacher (AST) and String Research Journal (SRJ).

Founded in 1946, ASTA is dedicated to helping string and orchestra teachers and players. Its members include K-12 school string and orchestra educators, pre-collegiate and collegiate studio teachers, music education professors, students, conductors, and performers.

AST publishes articles on the teaching of stringed instruments and the performance of music for strings. Covering all types of music for stringed instruments, the journal publishes feature articles, forums, and teaching tips for string teachers of all levels.

SRJ is dedicated to encouraging and improving scholarship and research within string music education. It publishes research on string pedagogy and teaching practices, effective rehearsals, performance, history, listener perception, and more.

SAGE will begin publishing AST in November 2017 and SRJ in July 2018.
