Academic publisher SAGE has announced that SAGE's office in Beijing is now a Wholly Owned Enterprise (WFOE) in China, under the name of SAGE Consulting (Beijing) Co. Ltd.
SAGE first established a presence in the Asia Pacific region in 2006, opening a regional headquarters in Singapore, before opening a representative office in Beijing in 2007. SAGE now has over 30 employees in the region. Establishing SAGE as a WFOE provides a more permanent presence in the Asia Pacific region, enabling SAGE to continue to provide a local platform for the global dissemination of research.
In the last few years since setting up the Asia Pacific HQ, SAGE has made a significant impact in various countries especially China, including forming new publishing partnerships with several leading Chinese publishers such as Chongqing University Press, Truth &Wisdom Press and East China Normal University Press to translate SAGE content within the Research Methods discipline and with Beijing Normal University Press, to publish a series of books in Chinese. It is expected that becoming an approved WFOE in the Chinese market will help the company to further deepen and establish business in China and support the publication of both local and international research as well as education content.
