IOP Publishing, in collaboration with the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) in Ningbo, the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology (ZAST), and the World Association of Young Scientists (WAYSS), has announced the launch of AI Horizons, a new Diamond Open Access (OA) journal. The journal is designed to provide a dedicated platform for research on artificial intelligence in engineering and science, including spatiotemporal, embodied, and quantum intelligence.
The journal aims to encourage methodological diversity, innovative problem‑solving, and cross‑disciplinary approaches to address global challenges. The sponsoring organizations emphasized their shared vision of building a worldwide community of researchers at the forefront of convergent AI, fostering collaboration and supporting the translation of discoveries into practice.
As a Diamond OA journal, AI Horizons will remove financial barriers to publishing. All costs will be covered by sponsors, enabling authors to publish under a CC BY 4.0 license without article processing charges. Submissions will open in October, with editorial operations and peer review managed by the Editorial Office at the Eastern Institute of Technology in China.
Shiyi Chen, Editor‑in‑Chief of AI Horizons, stated that the journal was created to advance convergent research by bridging disciplinary boundaries. He noted that breakthroughs often occur at intersections where theory meets engineering, spatiotemporal dynamics meet embodied systems, and AI intersects with quantum intelligence. He explained that the journal was being announced ahead of the World Young Scientist Summit to provide a new platform for dialogue and idea sharing, reflecting a commitment to hybrid thinking and inviting contributions from emerging researchers worldwide.
The journal will maintain high editorial standards through rigorous peer review, offering authors efficient publication workflows and flexible manuscript formats.
