Serials Solutions, a business unit of US-based ProQuest LLC, has signed an agreement with the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to enable the discovery of its Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic (J-Stage) content from the Summon web-scale discovery service. With the inclusion of J-Stage, researchers all over the world will now be able to discover full-text articles from peer-reviewed Japanese academic society journals for their research projects.
Developed by JST, the J-Stage electronic journal platform enables Japanese academic societies to disseminate their research and development results to the broader academic community. It contains more than 330,000 articles and 150 conference proceedings in both Japanese and English, spanning the topics of science, technology and medicine and social sciences and humanities. Though used heavily by academic libraries in Japan, many researchers worldwide rely on J-Stage as a valuable resource of information.
Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) aims to establish Japan as a nation built on the creativity of science and technology, as a core organization for implementing Japan's science and technology policy in line with the objectives of the Science and Technology Basic Plan. Using hardware and software designed and deployed by JST, J-Stage enables academic societies to computerise bulletins and disseminate academic journals and research papers with ease and at low cost.
With this arrangement, JST joins the ever-growing list of content providers in the Summon service. With full text search for most content in its single unified index, the Summon service provides a superior discovery experience by allowing researchers to search its more than 750 million records optimized for discovery using the Summon service’s exclusive match and merge process.
