Serials Solutions, a ProQuest business, is working with new platform Flooved to make their growing collection of textbooks discoverable in the Summon service. With the inclusion of these educational course materials, students will now be able to discover mathematics and physics content contributed by professors from leading institutions around the world alongside their library's other resources.
Flooved.com, a British education technology startup co-founded by Hamish Brocklebank and Nicolas Philippe, focuses on creating a vast collection of academic lecture notes, study guides and handouts tailored around students’ needs. Focusing on undergraduates in the sciences to start with, Flooved gathers content from professors from some of the best universities all over the world and makes the resources available to students. With a desire to grant students access to pools of resources and make textbooks interactive, social and free, Flooved supports its mission to help students across the world to study smarter.
Still in its early stages, Flooved currently has more than 8,000 pieces of content contributed by 800 math and physics professors.
The Summon service claims to be the first and only discovery service based on a single, unified index of content, leveraging its unique 'match and merge' technology to combine rich metadata and full text from multiple sources to ultimately make items more discoverable. The Summon service index contains more than 1.4 billion items in which the vast majority of article and book content is full-text searchable.
