Healthcare publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), part of Wolters Kluwer Health, US, has announced the promotion of Maureen “Shawn” Kennedy, MA, RN, to Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Nursing (AJN). AJN, widely recognised as the leading voice of nursing since 1900, is published by LWW.
In her new position, Kennedy will continue the journal's track record for publishing content of the highest quality and topicality, employing innovative electronic tools and content strategies to extend the value of the content online. She first joined AJN in 1998 as the news editor and special projects director, advancing to the position of editorial director in 2008, then interim editor-in-chief in mid 2009. Also, she is one of the first nursing journal editors to recognise the importance of having an interactive online presence to engage and secure readers.
For over 110 years, AJN has brought the latest nursing and healthcare news and evidence-based practice information to the nursing profession and healthcare community. The journal is available to individual subscribers in print or online from LWW, and to institutional subscribers from Ovid.
