Skeletal Muscle journal now accepting submissions -

Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced that Skeletal Muscle, a new open access journal that focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying the biology of skeletal muscle, is now accepting submissions. The journal is overseen by Editors-in-Chief Kevin P. Campbell (University of Iowa), David J. Glass (Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research) and Michael A. Rudnicki (Ottawa Hospital Research Institute). They are supported by an expert Editorial Board.

Skeletal Muscle is a peer-reviewed, open access, online journal that publishes articles investigating molecular mechanisms underlying the biology of skeletal muscle. The emphasis is on understanding adult skeletal muscle, its maintenance, and its interactions with non-muscle cell types and regulatory modulators.

The journal seeks to provide a venue for the publication of novel, cutting-edge research on a wide range of skeletal muscle biology and to answer questions relevant to the understanding of skeletal muscle. Main areas of interest include differentiation of skeletal muscle; atrophy and hypertrophy of skeletal muscle; aging of skeletal muscle; regeneration and degeneration of skeletal muscle; biology of satellite and satellite-like cells; maintenance of neuromuscular junctions; roles of ryanodine receptors and calcium signaling in skeletal muscle; roles of nuclear receptors in skeletal muscle; and roles of GPCRs and GPCR signaling in skeletal muscle. In addition, articles on translational clinical studies that address molecular and cellular mechanisms of skeletal muscle will also be published.
