SLACK Inc. launches new journal at AOTA Annual Meeting -

Independent STM publisher SLACK Incorporated has announced the recent launch of its new journal, the Annals of International Occupational Therapy. The journal, a quarterly, peer-reviewed, print and online publication designed to advance the research and practice of occupational therapy worldwide, debuted during exhibitions at the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Edited by Dr. Franklin Stein, with peer review by a board of esteemed occupational therapists from around the world, including Associate Editors Emily Piven, OTD, MHE, OTR; Michael Kenko Iwama, PhD; and Martin S. Rice, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, the Journal will include original articles that focus on research as related to the clinical practice of occupational therapy.

Highlights of the premier issue included original research articles on performance measure changes after constraint-induced movement therapy (Canada); a study on eating behaviour assessments amongst children with autism spectrum disorders (United States); an open-access review of barriers and facilitators on employment prospects for adults with autism spectrum disorders (Canada); a position paper on enhancing professionalism within the specialty in the People's Republic of China; and an in-depth look at the history of occupational therapy in Iran.

Manuscripts that are appropriate for submission to the Journal include randomised controlled trials, meta-analyses and systematic reviews, and prospective and retrospective case studies and case reports. Also appropriate are conceptual reviews, co-relational studies, research on educational issues, and surveys of factors or variables impacting occupational therapy practice.
