Independent STM publisher SLACK Incorporated has announced the inclusion of two of its nursing journals, Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services and Journal of Nursing Education, in the International Academy of Nursing Editors' Nursing Journal Hall of Fame. The Nursing Journal Hall of Fame was established by the International Academy of Nursing Editors (INANE) to recognise scholarly nursing journals that have 50 or more years of continuous publication and sustained contributions to nursing knowledge. The inaugural cohort of 13 journals was inducted at the 37th Annual Meeting of INANE.
The Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services, now in its 56th year, is a peer-reviewed, monthly MEDLINE/PubMed-cited journal (2017 Impact Factor .608) for psychosocial and mental health nurses in a variety of community and institutional settings. The Journal provides invaluable articles on psychopharmacology, mental healthcare of older adults, addictive behaviours and diagnoses, and child/adolescent disorders and issues. A highlight of the publication is its monthly CNE articles, which allow readers to earn CNE credits online at cme.healio.com. Shirley A. Smoyak is the Editor Emerita of the Journal. Mona Shatell has been the editor of the publication since 2017.
The Journal of Nursing Education, also cited in MEDLINE/PubMed (2017 Impact Factor 1.185), is a monthly, peer-reviewed journal publishing original articles for nurse educators in a multitude of settings for approximately 57 years. The Journal enhances the teaching-learning process, promotes curriculum development, and stimulates creative innovation and research in nursing education. Janis P. Bellack leads the Journal, with Christine A. Tanner and the late Rheba de Tornyay as Editors Emeriti.
The 13 inaugural journals chosen for the Hall of Fame are international in scope and cumulatively represent 978 years of scholarly publication in nursing. The journals are a cross-section of professional nursing practice, research, education, and leadership, and demonstrate depth in nursing excellence and scholarship through the published literature.
