Society for Scholarly Publishing announces 2011 annual meeting -

The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) has announced that its annual meeting will be held from June 1-3, 2011, at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, MA. 'It's What Counts: How Data Transforms Our World' has been chosen as the theme of the conference.

The SSP Annual Meeting is a recognised gathering place for those in publishing, libraries and related organisations, to convene and discuss areas of common interest within scholarly communication. Registration for the conference will open in early March 2011.

The Opening Keynote presenter is Jon Orwant, Director of Engineering at Google Books. John Palfrey, Professor of Law at Harvard University, will present the Plenary Address. The conference's concurrent sessions include cutting edge information from recognised authorities. Sessions will include speakers knowledgeable about e-books, preserving and curating research data, usability testing, a 'start-ups' showcase, single sign-on technology, and presentations to appeal especially to smaller publishers.

It is expected that this year's pre-meeting seminars will be relevant to the wide range of interests among SSP members. These seminars will allow attendees to gain in-depth knowledge on important topics such as Repositioning Journal and Working Paper Content in a New Book Series; Linking Data to Publications: Where Next?; Open Access Comes of Age: Case Studies from a New Reality in Publishing; and Analytic Systems: Google Analytics and Beyond.

The Exhibitor's Marketplace will feature vendors with up-to-date information on relevant services and products.
