SPEC survey webcast on Learning Analytics -

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is offering a series of webcasts that present the findings from the latest SPEC surveys and allow webcast participants to discuss trends with the survey authors. A 45-minute webcast will follow the publication of each SPEC Kit in 2018.

The next webcast in this series will cover the Learning Analytics survey (SPEC Kit 360), which explores how ARL member institutions are navigating the balance between gathering and managing data in support of learning analytics initiatives while attending to the profession’s ethics commitments.

The webcast will review survey findings reported by ARL member libraries in May 2018. The survey authors will review learning analytics participation by ARL member libraries and the supporting policies, procedures, and partnerships for this work; provide a snapshot of the types of data used in learning analytic initiatives undertaken by ARL member libraries; share highlights of data management practices from ARL member libraries; and review recommendations and best practices from authors.

The webcast will also include a discussion of trends and conclude with a question-and-answer session.

Presenters include Michael R. Perry, Head of Assessment & Planning at Northwestern University Library; Kristin A. Briney, Data Services Librarian at University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee; Abigail Goben, Associate Professor, Information Services and Liaison Librarian at University of Illinois at Chicago; Andrew Asher, Assessment Librarian at Indiana University Bloomington Libraries; Kyle M. L. Jones, Assistant Professor, Department of Library and Information Science at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUPUI); M. Brooke Robertshaw, Assistant Professor & Assessment Librarian at Oregon State University Libraries & Press; and Dorothea Salo, Faculty Associate in the Information School at University of Wisconsin–Madison.

The webcast, ‘Learning Analytics’, is scheduled for October 10, 2018, from 1:00-1:45 p.m. EDT.
