Scientific journal Advanced Photonics, co-published by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, and Chinese Laser Press (CLP), has announced the winners of its Editor-in-Chief Choice Awards for the best papers published in 2022. These awards honor outstanding articles that contribute significantly to the field of optics and photonics.
Since its establishment in 2019, Advanced Photonics has been at the forefront of publishing innovative research in all areas of optics and photonics, encompassing both fundamental and applied research. As a Gold Open Access publication, it provides unrestricted access to its content, freely available online in the SPIE Digital Library and at CLP's Researching site. The journal boasts an impressive Impact Factor of 13.5 and a CiteScore of 13.8.
The journal is co-edited by Xiao-Cong (Larry) Yuan of Shenzhen University and Anatoly Zayats of King's College London. The Editor-in-Chief Choice Awards, introduced in 2020, acknowledge exceptional papers, typically including an original research article and a review article, based on their significance to the optics and photonics field.
After careful consideration of articles published between December 2021 and December 2022, the Co-Editors-in-Chief selected the research article titled "High-speed image reconstruction for optically sectioned, super-resolution structured illumination microscopy" as the winner. The paper, authored by a team from Xi'an Jiaotong University and other esteemed institutions, addresses the real-time observation limitations of super-resolution structured illumination microscopy (SR-SIM).
The winning review article, titled "Photonics of time-varying media," provides a comprehensive overview of the rapidly expanding field of time-varying photonics. Authored by researchers from renowned institutions such as The City University of New York, Imperial College London, and Instituto de Telecomunicações, the article explores the fundamental principles of time-varying electromagnetics and offers valuable insights into the development of the field and future research directions.
Both award-winning papers will be recognized at a special event during the SPIE-CLP Conference on Advanced Photonics in San Diego in August. The event will also feature an invited talk by Sir John Pendry on the award-winning review article, "Photonics of time-varying media."
The Editor-in-Chief Choice Awards celebrate the exceptional contributions of these papers and highlight the commitment of Advanced Photonics to publishing cutting-edge research that advances the field of optics and photonics.
