SPIE has announced that submissions are now open for Advanced Quantum Photonics (AQP), its newest peer‑reviewed journal dedicated to applied quantum research. The journal is positioned as the first of its kind to focus on real‑world quantum technologies, aiming to support collaboration and advance the field.
Each issue of AQP will feature contributions from the quantum industry, including demonstrations of implementation and application. Researchers are encouraged to submit work that addresses technological context, implementation challenges, and application pathways. Proposals for review articles and perspectives assessing progress, limitations, and opportunities across quantum materials, components, and systems should be submitted to the editor‑in‑chief prior to manuscript submission.
Editor‑in‑Chief Uriel Levy explained that the journal provides a platform for showcasing optics and photonics as quantum technologies move from foundational physics toward practical applications. He noted that the publication will highlight research with strong relevance to real‑world contexts.
SPIE indicated that the launch of AQP builds on its growing support for quantum research, including the addition of Quantum West and Quantum Catalyst to its conference portfolio. The journal is intended to serve as a natural venue for applied quantum work presented at SPIE conferences, complementing existing theoretical journals. Authors will have the option to publish open access at no cost for the first two years to increase visibility and dissemination.
Manuscripts can be submitted through the SPIE Digital Library.
