Publisher Springer Nature and King Abdulaziz University have launched a new open-access, interdisciplinary journal - npj Climate and Atmospheric Science. The journal seeks to provide researchers, policy makers and the public with up-to-date, freely accessible research on weather and climate, atmospheric chemistry and air pollution, and the atmospheric system and its links to the oceans, the terrestrial biosphere and the hydrological cycle.
The new journal, now open for submissions, will be published by Springer Nature in partnership with the Center of Excellence for Climate Change Research at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Prof. Roy Harrison from the University of Birmingham, UK, and Dr. Fred Kucharski from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, will serve as joint Editors-in-Chief.
The journal is open for submissions focussing on topics including climate dynamics, climate variability, weather and climate prediction, climate change, weather extremes, atmospheric composition including aerosols, air pollution, the hydrological cycle and atmosphere-ocean interactions. It will also cover methods including climate and chemistry-transport modelling, in situ observations, and remote sensing, and submissions are invited in the form of research articles, brief communications, reviews and data-focused resource papers. Novel studies with regional and/or global focus will also be considered.
Each original research article will include a lay summary that will summarise the key issues with the goal of maximising the impact and reach of the research findings.
