Springer Nature has entered into a four‑year transformative agreement with the University of Texas System, expanding opportunities for affiliated researchers to publish open access in the Springer Nature hybrid portfolio. The agreement also provides University of Texas System researchers with access to subscription content across Springer, Palgrave, and Adis journals.
The collaboration builds on a 20‑year relationship between the two institutions. Under the agreement, nearly 900 articles per year are expected to be published openly, removing cost barriers for eligible researchers and increasing the reach and visibility of their work. The arrangement supports both reading access and open access publishing, contributing to the advancement of scientific discovery.
Maria Lopes, Vice President of Institutional Sales at Springer Nature, explained that the agreement reflects a longstanding partnership with the University of Texas System, emphasizing a shared commitment to supporting high‑quality research. She noted that the arrangement makes open access publishing more accessible, enabling researchers to share their findings widely.
Alexia Thompson‑Young, Assistant Director of Scholarly Resources at the University of Texas, stated that the partnership provides researchers with greater opportunities to publish openly and enhances the visibility of work produced across UT institutions. She highlighted that the agreement ensures discoveries made by University of Texas researchers can have a global impact.
