Springer Nature partnership strengthens open access options at Rice University -

Springer Nature has entered into a four‑year transformative agreement with Rice University, expanding opportunities for affiliated researchers to publish Open Access in the Springer Nature hybrid portfolio. The agreement also provides Rice researchers with access to content from more than 2,000 journals, including titles under the Springer, Palgrave, and Adis brands.

The collaboration builds on an established partnership between the two institutions. The new agreement is designed to broaden access to Springer Nature’s portfolio, increase the visibility and reach of Rice University research, and reduce barriers to publishing openly.

Maria Lopes, Vice President of Institutional Sales at Springer Nature, explained that the continuation of the partnership with Rice University reflects a shared commitment to supporting the research community. She noted that the agreement allows Rice researchers to engage with high‑quality content and share their work openly.

Scott Vieira, Head of Collections and Content Strategy at Rice University, stated that the agreement enhances access to scholarly resources while creating new opportunities for Rice researchers to disseminate their work to wider audiences. He emphasized that this development aligns with the university’s strategic plan.
