Springer Nature has published its 500th open access (OA) book, marking a major milestone in its book portfolio since the launch of its dedicated OA book publication programme in 2012.

The 500th OA title to be published is Teaching Tolerance in a Globalized World (IEA Research for Education series) by Sandoval-Hernández, Isac & Miranda.

Through its renowned book imprints Springer, Palgrave Macmillan, Apress and J.B. Metzler, Springer Nature publishes a wide range of books in science, technology and medicine as well as the humanities and social sciences.

On average, OA books published by Springer Nature receive just under 30,000 chapter downloads within the first year of publication, as well as increased access and readership.

Springer Nature publishes both OA and hybrid books and series, and partners with, amongst others, IEA (The International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement), IMISCOE (International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion), Max Planck, and Simula Research Laboratory.
