Springer Nature simplifies open research for authors with enhanced protocols offering -

Following its acquisition of protocols.io in 2023, Springer Nature has announced the migration of all protocols currently hosted on Protocols Exchange to the innovative protocols.io platform. This strategic move positions protocols.io as the new home for Springer Nature's fully open biomedical and life sciences protocols, which is the world's largest collection, encompassing over 155,000 protocols and methods.

This transition to protocols.io, set to be completed by the end of Q3 2024, offers authors significantly greater functionality and dynamic collaboration capabilities. The innovative platform allows researchers to share, develop, and openly publish their methods in ways that surpass the limitations of traditional platforms.

The integration with protocols.io provides authors with numerous advantages, including:

Enhanced Functionality: protocols.io offers advanced features for developing and sharing research methods, facilitating greater collaboration and interaction among researchers.

Improved Accessibility: The transition ensures that all protocols are easily accessible, enhancing the visibility and usability of research methods globally.

Collaborative Platform: Authors can engage with a more interactive community, contributing to and benefiting from the collective knowledge base.

As part of this transition, the Protocols Exchange platform will cease accepting new submissions by the end of Q3 2024. All existing protocols on Protocols Exchange will be transferred to protocols.io, ensuring continuity and access to previously submitted methods.

Researchers who publish with Springer Nature will continue to have the option to publish their protocols and methods in peer-reviewed publications, which remain searchable via Springer Nature Experiments. This dual offering ensures that authors can choose the most suitable platform for their research needs, whether they seek the collaborative environment of protocols.io or the rigorous review process of peer-reviewed journals.

Springer Nature's move to protocols.io underscores its commitment to advancing open research and providing researchers with the tools they need to share their work effectively. By migrating to a more dynamic and functional platform, Springer Nature aims to foster a more collaborative and transparent research environment.
