Springer Nature welcomes Maria Castresana as new Chief People Officer -

Springer Nature has announced the appointment of Maria Castresana as its new Chief People Officer. In her new role, Castresana will lead people-centered initiatives across the company’s research, health, education, and professional divisions, aligning with Springer Nature’s mission to drive scientific advancement.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and succeeding Gregor Karolus, who retired in October, Castresana will now sit on Springer Nature’s Executive Committee. With over 25 years of experience in human resources, particularly within companies dedicated to research and scientific development, she brings valuable expertise to her new position.

Castresana will oversee the company’s “Be Part of Progress” people strategy, focusing on talent attraction, employee engagement, and fostering an inclusive culture. Her objective is to empower employees to achieve their full potential as they collaborate with the global academic community to disseminate knowledge and advance understanding in various fields.

Before joining Springer Nature, Castresana served as the HR lead at MorphoSys, a biopharmaceutical company known for its innovative cancer treatments. Her career also includes senior roles at Bayer and Boehringer Ingelheim, where she led both global and national HR initiatives.

Springer Nature expressed confidence that Castresana’s experience and commitment to scientific progress will strengthen the company’s mission and create a supportive environment for its employees worldwide.
