Springer set to publish ISEA's Sports Engineering -

STM publisher Springer, Germany, has signed an agreement with the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA) to publish the latter's journal, Sports Engineering. Previously self-published by the ISEA, Sports Engineering is in its 10th year of publication. Martin Strangwood of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials at the School of Engineering, University of Birmingham, serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal, the first Springer issue of which is scheduled for January 2008.

A quarterly publication, Sports Engineering publishes original papers on the application of engineering and science to sport. The journal seeks to fill the niche area which lies between classical engineering and sports science and bridges the gap between the analysis of the equipment and of the athlete. Areas of interest include the mechanics and dynamics of sport, the analysis of movement, instrumentation, equipment design, surface interaction, materials and modelling.

Fast publication in Online First will provide immediate access to new research results in Sports Engineering on www.springerlink.com, Springer's online platform. In addition, all potential authors have the option of publishing their articles using the open access publishing model, via the Springer Open Choice programme. The first issue published by Springer will be available online as a free sample issue.
