Springer to publish International Journal of Behavioral Medicine -

STM publisher Springer, Germany, has announced that it is set to publish the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine (IJBM), starting in 2009. The journal is the official organ of the International Society of Behavioral Medicine (ISBM). Joost Dekker of the VU University Medical Center serves as editor-in-chief of the journal.

The International Journal of Behavioral Medicine publishes original research and integrative reviews on interactions among behavioural, psychosocial, environmental, genetic and biomedical factors relevant to health and illness. The scope of the IJBM extends from research on biobehavioural mechanisms and clinical studies on diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to research on public health, including health promotion and prevention. The journal publishes research originating from all over the world. In addition, it invites research on multinational, multicultural and global aspects of health and illness.

Springer will digitise previous volumes of the journal and make them available to readers through the Springer Online Archives Collection. The journal will be published online and in print, starting with Volume 16 in March 2009. It will include Online First, Cross Reference Linking, and Alert services. All authors, via the Springer Open Choice programme, will have the option of publishing their articles using the open access publishing model.
