SSP and ALPSP appoint Michelle Urberg as new Editor of Learned Publishing journal -

The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) and the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) have announced Michelle Urberg as the new North American Editor for the journal, Learned Publishing, beginning February 2023. Michelle is currently an independent consultant specializing in all things metadata and the Client Success Manager for LibLynx, and brings expertise to one of the leading journals in scholarly publishing. She will be working in collaboration with Laura Dormer, who became the Editor-in-Chief in November 2022.

The North American editor helps the Editor-in-Chief to ensure balanced and interesting issues and to agree and implement the journal’s editorial strategy. The appointment of a North American Editor is made by SSP in agreement with ALPSP.

As the North American Editor of Learned Publishing, Michelle will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief to commission and evaluate articles and raise the visibility of the journal within their networks. Over the past 7 years, the journal has developed into a high-impact vehicle for publishing research while remaining an important platform for industry knowledge, updates, and opinions.
