The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) has opened submissions for the 2026 SSP EPIC Awards, which celebrate "Excellence in Publishing, Information Technology, and Communications" across the scholarly community.
Following the success of the inaugural awards in 2025, where 40 winners were recognized from more than 90 entries, the program continues to spotlight organizations and teams advancing innovation in scholarly communication. The awards aim to honor achievements that drive creativity, inclusivity, and transformation across the publishing ecosystem.
The 2026 edition features categories spanning tools and products, publications, marketing, media, and initiatives. These include technological innovations supporting the publishing lifecycle, outstanding journals and books, creative marketing campaigns, digital media projects, and programs that promote equity, accessibility, and sustainability within the scholarly landscape.
Entries will be assessed by a panel of industry professionals, with winners selected for setting benchmarks of excellence and inspiring progress across the field. The program will continue to recognize student-led publications, reflecting SSP’s commitment to nurturing emerging voices in scholarly publishing.
The submission window is open from October 1 to November 28, 2025, with details on eligibility, guidelines, and judging standards are available through SSP’s website. Applications for judges open on November 3, inviting professionals across the industry to contribute their perspectives to the review process.
Award winners will be announced at SSP’s 48th Annual Meeting, to be held in Chula Vista, California, from May 27–29, 2026, during the EPIC Awards Celebration. The event will bring together the scholarly communications community to honor the achievements that continue to shape the future of publishing.
