Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced the promotion of Steve Miron to the position of Senior Vice President, Scientific, Technical, Medical, and Scholarly, effective May 1, 2010. The announcement was made by William J. Pesce, President and CEO, and Stephen M. Smith, EVP & Chief Operating Officer, of John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
As reported in October 2009, Eric Swanson will retire at the end of October 2010. During his remaining time at Wiley, Swanson will serve as Senior Vice President, Government Relations and Public Policy. In this capacity, he will provide advice and counsel to the Leadership Team and develop relationships with industry bodies and other stakeholders to promote Wiley’s interests and widen the Company’s influence on key policy issues affecting our markets and business globally.
Miron assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer of STMS on November 1, 2009. He has worked closely on the transition with Swanson and other members of the STMS leadership team.
Miron joined Wiley in 1993 as Regional Manager for Taiwan and Korea. After serving for eight years as VP and Managing Director of Wiley Asia, he was appointed as leader of global STM book publishing. Following the acquisition of Blackwell in 2007, Miron assumed the role of VP & Managing Director of the global STMS Physical Sciences business.
