Academic publisher SAGE and the British Educational Research Association (BERA) have announced the opening of submissions for the 2013 BERA/SAGE Practitioner Research Awards.
The awards support and encourage excellence in the application of research in practice. They are open to anyone who has used research to develop practice in the UK within the past five years, and working in any sector of education, from nursery to higher education.
The awards aim to support and encourage excellence in the application of research in practice; disseminate the results of practitioner research and practice; and help practitioners to improve the quality of their work by example.
There are two separate awards: an award for research-based practice in under 18 settings, and an award for research-based practice in over 18 settings. Submissions can be in a variety of forms, such as an action research project; examples of curriculum or assessment materials; documents highlighting the use of particular pedagogies; a programme of staff development; or any other accounts of research-based practice.
The closing date is May 10, 2013. Winning entries will be awarded a cheque for £500, plus a selection of SAGE books to the value of £200, for the best accounts of research into practice in an educational setting. Winners will also receive access to the BERA conference to receive their prize.
