Academic publisher Oxford University Press has announced that submissions are now open for a new Open Access journal - Journal of Urban Ecology.
As of 2009 the number of people living in urban areas surpassed those living in rural areas, a trend that is only increasing. With the rapid urbanization of our society and planet, the study of urban ecology has never been more important. It is vital that we understand the effects of urbanization and build tools to create cities that are healthy environments for both humans and animals. Journal of Urban Ecology will publish freely accessible research examining these issues for both developed and developing countries.
Journal of Urban Ecology seeks to provide a much needed forum for in-depth discussion on this fast-developing field. The journal focuses on all aspects of urban environments including the biology of the organisms that inhabit urban areas, the diversity of ecosystem services, and human social issues encountered in urban landscapes.
The journal is now open for submissions and OUP has announced the waiving of fees for an introductory period. The journal welcomes submissions at: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/juecol .
