Serials Solutions, a US-based provider of tools and services for libraries and a business unit of ProQuest LLC, has announced that the Summon discovery service took top honours at the 2011 CODiE Award ceremony. It was named the Best Enterprise Search Solution.
Claimed to be highly competitive and much coveted industry prizes, CODiES are presented annually by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) and are designed to recognise exceptional products and services. Information industry professionals named the Summon service winner after a rigorous evaluation using a standardised set of criteria, including usability, content, technology and visual interface.
The Summon service was launched in 2009, bringing the simple, easy, fast and familiar searching found on the open web to library searching. A cornerstone of the Summon service is its unified index, which makes the full breadth of a library's collection - from print to e-resources at the article level - easily discoverable from a single search box and allows a user to be presented with single set of relevancy ranked search results.
The CODiE Awards are the industry's only peer-reviewed awards programme. Now in its twenty-sixth year, the CODiE Awards programme has raised the standard for excellence and serves as prestigious representation of outstanding achievement and vision in the software and information industry.
