The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) has announced the appointment of Susan Patton to their team as Program Director. Patton will work collaboratively with SSP’s programming-focused committees, Executive Director, and Board in setting a strategic direction for developing all educational programming of the Society.
As Program Director, Patton will provide continuity, guidance, support, and standards for the SSP committees charged with developing educational and informational programs. She will also manage logistics and planning for the society’s seminars, webinars, adjacent events, training activities, and regional events.
Patton has previously served as the general manager of the Editorial Freelancers Association, where she managed the staff and office and supported the work of its Board of Governors. She also worked for over 20 years at the Association of University Presses, where she helped organize the AUPresses Annual Meeting, produced the annual membership directory, and administered several professional development programs.
With her wealth of experience and knowledge, Patton is expected to provide valuable guidance in the development of new training and educational solutions for SSP members. Her addition to the SSP team is seen as a positive step towards expanding and improving the society’s education programs.
