Swets implements Lean Six Sigma programme to enhance business performance -

Subscription services provider Swets, Netherlands, has announced that is has successfully implemented the first phase of a Lean Six Sigma programme at its global Headquarters in Lisse. Lean Six Sigma is a business improvement methodology that is designed to significantly accelerate an organisation's performance both in terms of speed and quality. Swets' regional offices around the globe will also subsequently implement the programme.

The first implementation took place within Swets' Electronic Production Department (EPD), which updates the company's substantial Table of Contents (TOC) service, offering a complete, clear overview of the large collection of TOC information currently available. In addition, data generated from EPD forms the basis for SwetsWise Online Content - Swets' e-journal gateway that provides a single point of access to the most extensive collection of e-journals, all in original published format.

With the first implementation of its Lean Six Sigma programme now completed, Swets claims to be already realising significant results. This includes a decrease in EPD cycle times of more than 25 percent and a quality improvement of almost 20 percent.
