Information management systems provider Symyx Technologies, Inc., US, has announced the release of Symyx Notebook 6.4. This latest release of Symyx's electronic lab notebook (ELN) seeks to offer scientists improved support for method development, validation and execution in regulated and non-regulated analytical labs.
Symyx Notebook 6.4 offers new cross-experiment referencing and reporting capabilities that improve collaborative workflows for multidisciplinary teams working in the life sciences, chemicals, energy and consumer products industries. The latest enhancements round out important functionality for analytical labs while also supporting other scientific disciplines, including biology.
Symyx Notebook provides productivity improvements for scientists by capturing the science they do in the lab, enabling them to readily optimise, share and repurpose information to increase productivity in today’s electronic lab. A single, shared notebook enables scientists to work more efficiently by instantly accessing a variety of techniques, instrumentation, software and information while also fully leveraging the experimental methodologies and results of colleagues.
Key features of version 6.4 include: a new spreadsheet section that enables cell-bycell auditing, import/export of Excel workbooks and inline editing/graphing capabilities; enhanced capabilities for creating and executing structured recipes and procedures; improved support for sample preparations with auto-generated procedure text and calculations for dilutions and replicates; advanced cross-section referencing capabilities with the ability to retrieve section data for a selected set of samples; new cross-experiment reporting using standard report templates; and improved form searching with property searches spanning table sections, forms and recipes.
